Low Maintenance Indoor Plants

Updated: Feb 1, 2019

Indoor plants bring a sense of life and freshness to any living space but the very thought of having your newly acquired plant just quit life and suddenly die on you is exactly what keeps most of us from opting to bring them into our homes.

Artificial or live indoor house plants?

With so many beautiful ultra realistic looking artificial plants out there on the market which can look just as amazing as their live counterparts and don't come with the perceived overhead or commitment of maintenance, why go natural?

The elephant in the room with artificial plants is that there is a forfeit on the many benefits that live plants provide such as

  • Purifying the air of excess carbon monoxide, pollutants and dust and in return introducing oxygen. Click the images of these air purifying plants for details

  • Increasing humidity and reducing temperature

  • Providing protective shade in rooms that are a sun trap of harmful UVB rays ofcourse the caveat here being that this depends on the size of the plant and room in which it is placed.

Tip:

Indoor plants can be placed in any room so don't be afraid to place them creatively!

4 low maintenance indoor plants:

  1. Sansevieria trifasciata Snake Plant, also known as mother-in-law's tongue or ribbon plant

  2. Aspidistra elatior, the cast-iron-plant

  3. Zamioculcas the Zanzibar gem also known as emerald palm

  4. Succulent plants offer such a wide variety such as the jade plant, or spiral aloe

Tip:

If you are pressed for space place a plant on your window ledge or create a living wall!

Plants pots are the perfect accessory for your plant. White is safe and will always work, but be adventurous with your choice, you can rarely go wrong! Hanging baskets make quite the feature.

I love the look of plant baskets and have recently incorporated them into my own home decor
